A10 - Oostkamp

As part of the campaign to eliminate the structural maintenance backlog on Flanders’ motorways, the well-known interchange in Oostkamp is being completely resurfaced.

Given that this interchange is a particularly busy road junction, a number of important requirements were attached to the project. The main axes had to be open at all times and a lane could be closed only during certain hours. Traffic could be hindered for no more than five days.

This called for optimal coordination of the accessibility of different site areas and the activities of the subcontractors concerned.

In order to maintain the high tempo, asphalt was brought in both from Bruges and from Ghent. At a certain point, no less than six asphalting crews were needed.

The fact that the works were a tad faster than planned did not escape the notice of minister Crevits. Aswebo also received a feather for its fast and efficient operating.

Willemen Infra - the largest Belgian road construction company - came into being on 1 July 2018 as a result of the merger between Aswebo, Aannemingen Van Wellen and the infrastructure department of Kumpen.
