E17 - Deinze-Kruishoutem

Description

This class 8 contract comprised the structural maintenance between Kruishoutem and Nazareth. The implementation period was 100 calendar days. During the implementation period, the entire roadway, the hard shoulder and the foundation were dug up. These were replaced by a foundation in roller compacted concrete, an asphalt sandwich layer and a roadway in continuous reinforced concrete. When resurfacing the roadway, certain on and off ramps for the Deinze/Nazareth and Kruishoutem complexes were given a new top layer.

The entire contract was executed in four phases:

In the first phase, the preliminary work was executed, such as installation of hard shoulders, creating crossways, etc. The two following intermediate periods concerned the actual work. During these, traffic on the E17 passed through 2x2 narrowed lanes. The last phase concerned finishing and opening up the roadway.

To limit disruption to traffic in the first two phases and during phase changes, work was done only at night. Work was done continuously during the other phases.
