Bootsman is a PPP and a Design&Build-project (DBF) being undertaken in cooperation with the City of Ostend, on part of the former Bootsman Jonsen barracks site, near the city centre. The barracks made way for this new urban housing project.
The building work is being executed in 2 phases. The first phase consists of 50 apartments with parking spaces and bicycle storage and two retail units. The works started in december 2014 and were completed in march 2017. The building cost was €8.5 million.
In a second phase, three ‘urban villas’ with a total of 54 apartmentswill be added. The works on these villas started in september 2017 and will be completed in the summer of 2019, fot a total amount of €9.3 million.
The underground car parks will be finished with green roofs . There will also be a new public road and the public park area will be redeveloped.
