Cogeneration plant Thenergo - Antwerp

Description

The project was executed in a building team (‘bouwteam’), according to the Design & Build procedure. Franki Construct was responsible for the design and construction.

Construction of a CHP/9 MW based on pure plant oil (PPO) extracted from the jatropha plant. The nuts of this plant are inedible fruits that are grown in dry, poor soil in Southeast Asia.

The plant  delivers 48.000 MWh of heat to two industrial partners and produces 72.000 MWh of green electricity. This is equivalent to the electricity needs of 20,000 families.

Special attention was paid to the acoustic requirements of the building, so that the sound transmission from the plant to the (rural) surroundings is minimal.

Since 1998 Franki Construct has been part of Willemen Groep, the largest family construction group in Belgium.
