De Bruynlaan en VIIde Olympiadelaan - Antwerp

Description

The districts of Antwerp and Wilrijk decided to join forces in order to improve road safety along the De Bruynlaan-VIIde Olympiadelaan traffic corridor. The design included the construction of new asphalt bicycle paths with a parking strip in cobblestones to keep the paths completely separate from the reduced-width roadway. The decision was made to pave the tramway in order to provide the easy access required for the emergency services.  Ri-Ant financed the construction of a brand new separate drainage network consisting of vitrified clay and concrete pipes. It was also decided to chop down the existing trees and plant new ones in order to preserve the beautiful historic street.

Willemen Infra - the largest Belgian road construction company - came into being on 1 July 2018 as a result of the merger between Aswebo, Aannemingen Van Wellen and the infrastructure department of Kumpen.
