Infrabel Signal Box - Antwerp

Description

Infrabel, the infrastructure manager of the railways in Belgium, recently put the signal box built by Franki Construct into use at the Port of Antwerp.
In the context of the concentration of signal boxes at the Port of Antwerp, an additional signal box was required near the existing block signalling system at the Henry Fordlaan.
The technical preconditions were that the building must be maintenance-friendly, that it must be possible to recreate the design at other sites, and, in this
case, must fit on a small, triangular plot of land.
Eurostation opted for a reinforced concrete structure with arched metal roofing and cladding.
This way, a flat roof is avoided, the technical cooling systems can be integrated into the whole, and the metal cladding also functions as a
insulated lightning protection system.
The building is now literally and figuratively a coil in the Infrabel network.

Since 1998 Franki Construct has been part of Willemen Groep, the largest family construction group in Belgium.
