ITC Rubis is a joint venture between Rubis, an independent, international operator specialising in the downstream petroleum and chemicals sector, and Mitsui, one of the most diversified and comprehensive trading, investment and service companies in the world.

Aannemingen Van Wellen is assuming part of the responsibility for the 45,500 m3 expansion on this site on the left bank of the Scheldt. The work to be performed includes the laying of underground infrastructure and utilities lines as well as the laying of railways and roadways for the expansion of the existing tank park.

Given the petrochemical-oriented surroundings of the project, the requirements related to safety and the environment are of a higher level for the performance of this type of work.
These unique conditions require our employees on the terrain to utilize specially adapted working methods.

In addition, various contractors will have to work in a limited working area, which requires intense coordination and daily monitoring of the planning.
This project fits in with the follow-up to the first phase of the ITC Rubis Terminal project, which was also executed by Aannemingen Van Wellen.

These projects differ from the traditional container terminal expansion projects, but given the importance of this sector in the Port of Antwerp, our company is happy to accept the challenge of working on the realization of projects like these.
