KdG Hogeschool Campus Zuid - Antwerp

Description

Campus Zuid of the Karel de Grote Hogeschool is the new home for 5,500 students. In addition to a new building, a former factory building was also transformed into office space, classrooms, or practical training rooms. The campus also includes a media library, a bookstore, underground bicycle storage space for 1,000 bicycles, and a parking garage. A central courtyard allows light and air into the whole project. Sustainability is central and is translated in the flexible use of space, smart LED lighting, self-regulating awnings, green roofs, solar panels, and a night cooling system. The campus also has a unique catering and cafeteria concept that encourages culinary innovation and local entrepreneurship.

Willemen Construct came into being on 1 July 2018 as a result of the merger between Willemen General Contractor and the construction department of Kumpen.
