SDG3 Upgrade ArcelorMittal - Ghent

Description

Franki Construct has started a new construction project for Arcelor Mittal, formerly Sidmar, at the Port of Ghent.
The project concerns an upgrade of the existing galvanising line Sidgal3.
This expansion comprises the installation of a new furnace and zinc bath for galvanising high strength steels.
High-strength steels are used mainly in the automotive sector.
Their lower weight reduces fuel consumption.

The contract includes all Civil Works, foundation and earthworks, as well as all concreting and road works.
The contract with Franki Construct amounts to 4 million euros. Work is to be completed by January 2017.
At the end of the last century, Franki Construct also took part in the construction of a galvanisation line and continuous casting operations for the fomer Sidmar.

The white outer walls depict the existing production halls, while the new ones are depicted by the beige (steel cladding), and the grey (concrete) outer walls.

Since 1998 Franki Construct has been part of Willemen Groep, the largest family construction group in Belgium.
