Train wash – Brussels-North


As a replacement for the present train wash in Schaarbeek, the client NMBS Technics foresaw the construction of a new installation located nearby. The design and study were made by Tuc Rail. The work comprises the installation of bedding, sewerage and road works, an 80 m long concrete train wash and a utility building. The wash system and technical equipment in the building specific to a train wash are not included in this contract and were handled by another contractor.

Project Details

Building: gravel core, foundation slab, prefab columns, beams, vaulting and sandwich panels // Train wash: 84 m long watertight concrete slab with some 100 bases and a concreted-in gutter, finished with polyurea waterproofing.
Special features 
High groundwater (80 cm under ground level) hampered the works.
