DOVO explosive ordnance disposal facility - Langemark-Poelkapelle

Description

Franki Construct Design and Build contract for the construction works of the new mining plant was completed in September 2016 to Poelkapelle. Final Completion Civil Work has just been confirmed by Dynasafe Demil Systems AB.

The Belgian demining service DOVO had his base in the West Flemish town Poelkapelle a plant to dismantle remaining ordnance, which also contains other toxic components except explosives, such as fosfeengas.

The system broke down in August 2012 when there was a gas bomb at exploded. Final 2014 Defence announced that it had awarded the contract for the processing of an installation for the destruction of toxic projectiles to the Swedish Dynasafe Demil Systems AB. This is a world player in the disposal and management of munitions and other dangerous substances.

Dynasafe called on Franki Construct for the design, engineering and construction of the building in which the decontamination plant was to be located. In the new installation, the gas and the metal of the projectiles will be destroyed together.

The Design & Build contract also included the installation of any special techniques in the building and even specific parts of the process piping of the decontamination plant, and the surrounding construction and access. The actual dismantling facility that was first built entirely in Sweden, was lifted and mounted into the building after transport to Belgium.

Since 1998 Franki Construct has been part of Willemen Groep, the largest family construction group in Belgium.
