Police station - Zaventem

Description

Construction in DBM formula of a state-of-the-art police station with space for 150 people. The realisation of the new building provides the Zaventem police with five individual cells, a large collective cell with space for 40 people and an outdoor area. The commissariat also includes a dozen interrogation rooms, consultation rooms and a line-up room. There is also a training wing with gym, a didactic room with virtual shooting range and a dojo room.

The new building centralises all services and activities of the Zaventem police force. All technical facilities were geared to efficient, contemporary police work. The focus was on safety, functionality and sustainability. With an E-level of 49 and a K-level of 20, the ambition level for energy efficiency is particularly high. There are 116 solar panels on the roof of the commissariat and solar panels have also been installed on the covered parts of the outdoor car park.

Geothermal heat pumps are used to heat and cool the building. The toilets are flushed with filtered rainwater. Twelve charging stations are located in the underground car park. Above ground, a fast DC charging station (120 kW) was provided so that intervention vehicles can be recharged in 5 to 10 minutes in between.

On the site where the old commissariat used to stand, the construction of an underground shooting range and car park was started after the new office was commissioned. Incidentally, the shooting range can also be used by other corps. This second phase was completely completed by the end of December 2021.

Willemen Construct came into being on 1 July 2018 as a result of the merger between Willemen General Contractor and the construction department of Kumpen.
