Prison - Leuze-en-Hainaut

Description

New prison with a capacity of 312 places on a 14.47-ha site (approx. 470 m long and 420 m wide), located at the outskirts of Leuze-en-Hainaut. The 6-metre high enclosing wall forms surrounding security and reinforcement of the prison. More than 1,000 m² of integrated reed beds handle purification of the wastewater. The entrance building is built into the enclosure wall, and consists of a pavilion with two upper floors. It serves as a control airlock for visitors and cars. Located in this part of the complex are the porter's room, rooms for personnel, the courtroom, etc.

The visitors' building is located at the front of the main building. Within the enclosure, the panoptic centre (control zone) and the four cell wings are housed in the star-shaped main building. The building also has workshops, a central post office, offices, a kitchen, a reception centre, auditoriums for sports and other activities, rooms for personnel, a refectory, a pavilion for prisoners, a number of mechanical rooms, etc.

For security reasons, a choice was made for a simple, functional organisation, good visibility, and areas that facilitate easy monitoring.

Willemen Construct came into being on 1 July 2018 as a result of the merger between Willemen General Contractor and the construction department of Kumpen.
