WILLEMEN GROEP is currently one of Belgium’s largest family-owned construction groups. Its fourth generation saw it gain lots of momentum, partly thanks to the acquisition of construction companies such as Franki (1998), Cosimco (2005), Groep De Waal (2005), Aswebo (2011), Aannemingen Van Wellen (2014) and Kumpen (2018).
Our group has 2,400 employees and also creates indirect employment for a multiple of that number. Several impressive projects are being realised across all the branches, which together represent an annual revenue of 850 million euros. The companies within our group all focus on specific niches in the construction industry. Thanks to their mutual complementarity, the various companies are able to handle even the most complex assignments together.
In 2018, we thoroughly redesigned our organisational structure in order to align our activities as much as possible. For example, Willemen General Contractor and the Kumpen construction department merged to form Willemen Construct, while the infrastructure companies Aswebo, Van Wellen, and the Kumpen infrastructure department merged to form Willemen Infra. These two mergers means we can better coordinate our activities and simplify our group structure in order to serve our customers even better.
The companies within our group also dare to look beyond national borders. In addition to our structural presence in Germany, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and Morocco, we also develop activities in France, the Netherlands, and on the African continent from Belgium. This is how we follow our clients or take advantage of win-win opportunities and working closely with local partners to develop our international projects further.
In 2013, the Willemen Groep received the prestigious ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ award. It was the very first time that this prestigious honour was awarded to a company from the construction sector.
Tom Willemen is our CEO. Johan Willemen is the chairman.
