Kanaalroute Noord cycle highway - Grimbergen-Vilvoorde

Description

Between Grimbergen and Vilvoorde, we are constructing the 'Noordkanaalfietsroute', a safe and fast cycle route that is part of the F23 cycle route between Boom and Brussels. We are responsible for the entire route, for the road and sewerage works and for the construction of the cycle route. In Vilvoorde, we built a 150-metre quay wall as part of the same project.

The section of the N260 between the Grimbergen bridge and the Brussels-Capital Region was in need of renovation. When the project is completed, cyclists will have a comfortable and safe infrastructure of 4 metres wide along a 4 km stretch. At the industrial loading docks, the new cycle paths will be integrated into the new roadway by means of a bicycle subway and two tunnels. This work has also been entrusted to us and will start in 2022.

The preparatory work started at the end of August 2019 and the work of the utility companies started a month later. Since December 2019, we have been working on a separate sewer system and the renewal of the road surface.

Willemen Infra is a leading, Belgian road construction company with a regional presence in both Flanders and Wallonia. An important asset is that we have all aspects of the construction process under our own management and thus fully control the execution. Moreover, our team of 1,000 well-trained and experienced employees are willing to work at night and over the weekend to make sure they get everything done in time. In addition, thanks to our own COPRO-certified production and recycling sites, we are one of the leading producers for asphalt and road concrete.
