Astro Tower - Sint-Joost-ten-Node

The Astro Tower lies on the Brussels Inner Ring Road at Sint-Joost-ten-Node. The building dates from the mid 70s and was until 2005 owned by Fortis. Since 2005, the building has been the property of Luresa (Banco Santander Group). With its 107 metres and 33 floors, the Astro Tower is the fifth tallest building in Brussels. After renovation, it will offer approximately 35,000 m² of office space. Besides offices, the building contains three technical levels (levels +31 to +33). Beneath the building is room for a five-level parking garage.
The THV ASTRO consortium (Willemen General Contractor - Cordeel) has been actively involved since September 2014 in the renovation project. The consortium is responsible for the demolition work and structural changes, and for installing a new steel structure on the roof. The copper-coloured façade is being dismantled to make way for a façade in blue glass. The finishing stage begins in May 2015, with completion scheduled for the end of 2015.
The Astro Tower will offer a new workplace to approximately 1,000 people and will attract some 140,000 visitors annually. The operation is one of the largest ever real estate transactions in Brussels. After renovation, the Astro Tower will be one of Europe's largest passive buildings in Europe.

Willemen Construct came into being on 1 July 2018 as a result of the merger between Willemen General Contractor and the construction department of Kumpen.
