Bridge Vaartstraat / E313 - Ranst

‹ Prev Next ›
Description

We are renovating the bridge on Vaartstraat over the E313/E34 in Ranst. It was badly damaged a few years ago when a lorry drove into its underside. Since then, for safety reasons, traffic on the old bridge has only been able to pass alternately via traffic lights. To increase traffic flow and guarantee road safety, we are building a completely new bridge. It will accommodate two-way motorised traffic and a one-way cycle path on both sides, separated from the carriageway. We are also building an ecoduct along the cycle path, separated by a screen. This will allow animals to cross in peace and safety and connect two nature reserves.

The existing bridge was completely demolished on the night of 9-10 March 2024. Watch the timelapse of the demolition.
