Koning Boudewijnlaan - Hasselt

Description

Koning Boudewijnlaan will be renewed across its entire width between Elfde Liniestraat and Voorstraat. On the stretch of road alongside the old fire station, Willemen Infra will construct a two-way cycle path and free bus lanes. In each direction of travel, the tram bus will have two narrow concrete tracks in a green bed.

On the swimming pool side, we will construct a two-way cycle path and a wide footpath. For motorised traffic, we will again provide one lane in each direction.

The entire operation will transform Koning Boudewijnlaan into a pleasant and safe environment for cyclists and pedestrians. The longitudinal parking lane will be transformed into a cycling and walking boulevard separated from car traffic by a row of trees and a green zone.

The works are part of the construction of the new tram route between Hasselt and Maasmechelen. This is the starting shot in the realisation of high-quality public transport between the two cities. To get the electric tram bus up and running as soon as possible, a number of quick wins will first be carried out. The reconstruction of Koning Boudewijnlaan in Hasselt is the first of these.

Willemen Infra is a leading, Belgian road construction company with a regional presence in both Flanders and Wallonia. An important asset is that we have all aspects of the construction process under our own management and thus fully control the execution. Moreover, our team of 1,000 well-trained and experienced employees are willing to work at night and over the weekend to make sure they get everything done in time. In addition, thanks to our own COPRO-certified production and recycling sites, we are one of the leading producers for asphalt and road concrete.
